T2SL Cooled Infrared Detectors
T2SL technology refers to Type-II Superlattice technology, an advanced class of engineered semiconductor materials used primarily for high-performance infrared (IR) detection and imaging. It has emerged as a premier alternative to traditional materials like Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT). T2SL detectors maintain excellent Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) even as pixel sizes shrink. This allows for much smaller pixels, delivering higher spatial resolution and clearer long-range identification. T2SL structures inherently suppress dark current (noise generated by thermal energy), which leads to sharper images and more reliable performance. HOT (High Operating Temperature): Standard cooled infrared sensors (like InSb) typically need to be cooled to extremely low temperatures, such as 80K (-193°C), to function properly. HOT T2SL detectors can operate effectively at warmer temperatures, often between 120K and 150K.
